Senior Sales Engineer

Zetta Sales Engineers are the primary technical resource for the Zetta sales force. Sales Engineers are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for our products. The Zetta Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. Must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver product demonstrations, trials and proof of concepts.
  • Proactively drive success criteria, issues and focus among Sales, Operations and Engineering in support of closing sales opportunities.
  • Represent the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Convey customer requirements to Product Management teams
  • Travel throughout sales territory as required
  • Build and maintain sales engineering processes
  • Create and maintain critical technical documents in support of the sales process including:
    • Technical FAQs
    • Demo scenarios for select use cases and/or verticals — scripts, data
    • Trial best practices
    • Scope assessments
    • Technical sales positioning based on environmental conditions/requirements/use cases

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of how storage and networking technologies work, not just what they do, and be capable of overcoming technical objections and interoperability questions to achieve rapid sales closure. Applicants should have prior storage background, familiarity with defining RTO and RPO, and basic system administration concepts such as access control and logging. Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in storage and networking technologies. Must be comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong verbal presentation skills and must be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports, to both external prospects and customers as well as internal colleagues. Must be organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.

 

Role is based Sunnyvale, California worldwide headquarters with occasional travel.

  • 5+ years relevant experience in storage technology required, SaaS experience a plus
  • Experience and familiarity with our products and line of business a plus
  • Solid matrix management experience
  • A B.S. in Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred
